COUGARS IN THE WORLD OF...
Television
- At least one season of "The FBI" featured
Efrem Zimbalist driving a 1966 GT convertible, both in the show
and during the closing credits. (Submitted by MrFomoco)
- In "Spenser for Hire," Robert Urich (Spenser)
drove a black 1965 or 1966 (obscured by removing trim) fastback.
(Submitted by MrFomoco)
- "Mike Hammer" (Stacy Keach) drove a beat-up,
blue 1965 coupe for at least two seasons. (Submitted by MrFomoco)
- In "Kolchak the Night Stalker," Darren McGavin
always drove a 1966 convertible. (Submitted by MrFomoco)>
- In "Matlock," private investigator Conrad
McMasters (played by Clarence Gilyard, Jr.; this character only
appears 1989-93) drove a red '65 convertible. (Submitted by
MrFomoco)
- "Silk Stalkings" on the USA Network uses
a '65 Mustang convert, Dark Ivy Green Metallic, on a regular
basis in the series. It is owned by the lead male detective
character in the series. (Submitted by Richard Minton)
- Someone drives a '60s Mustang in the TV show
"American Gothic." (Submitted by Mike
Zamaria)
Music
Celebrity Owners
- Charlie Sheen owns a 1968 Shelby Mustang,
which made an appearance in "Money
Talks".
Movies
- In the Movie "Her Magesty's Secret Service"
the women James Bond marries, is driving a red '69 convertible
Cougar. (Submitted by johnnyuberalles)
- Steve McQueen starred in an awesome movie called "Bullitt"
which featured a chase scene with him driving a classic Mustang
and the bad guys driving a '69 Charger. We have received many
letters regarding what kind of Mustang it actually is, and the
verdict seems to be that it is a 68 GT Fastback. (Submitted
by Charlie Bryant, Kimdeetsch, Hammer3154, Simon
Ward and brower)
- There were two Mustangs used in "Bullitt",
according to the film's stunt mechanic. Both were 1968 Mustang
fastbacks with some trim removed to better resemble a cop's
personal car. (Submitted by MrFomoco) [McQueen had two cars, one
a GT Stang and one not, both '68. The trim was not removed so
they would resemble cop cars but so that the two cars would
look the same, since GT trim is different from non-GT trim.]
(Submitted by Simon Ward)
- In "Diamonds Are Forever," a 1971 Mach 1
races thru Las Vegas & on two wheels down a narrow alley.
(Submitted by MrFomoco)
- "Gone in 60 Seconds" contains a 1972 Mach
1 (we think). (Submitted by MrFomoco)
[The car in Gone in 60 Seconds is a kit car pretending to be
a Shelby Mustang, and the car underneath all the fiberglass
is a '67.] (Submitted by Simon
Ward)
- In "Goldfinger," Bond chases down cute Miss
Masterson in her 1965 white convertible, then flattens her tires
using the Aston Martin's unique "spinners". (Submitted by MrFomoco)
- There is a Cougar in the movie "From Dusk
til Dawn." (Submitted by john210@flash.net)
Name Origins
- We currently do not have any Mustang or Cougar
