  • In the Fox television series, "The Lone Gunmen", the character "Jimmy Bond" drives a Navy Blue Metallic 2000 or 2001 WS6 Ram Air T/A. The front of the car

  • The Simpsons "Reality Bites" (Episode# SI-906/3F06): The history for the 1968 Firebird took a different twist. Homer Simpson was spotted driving a 1968 Firebird 400.   • In a few episodes of "I Dream of Jeanie," Major Healey (the goofy friend) drove a 1968 Firebird Convertible. (submitted by Gil Myers). Roger, Tony Nelson's bud, drove a dark metallic green convertible 69 firebird with white stripes and interior AND super rare 69 trans am body components (hood, spoiler and side air ducts were mounted on the front of the rear 1/4 rather than the front fender) WHERE IS THIS CAR NOW?   • Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best) jumped a 1970 Trans Am in one episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard." He didn't beat the General Lee, but he came pretty close. (Submitted by Lisa)

  • In the TV show "Dukes of Hazard," in one episode there were 2 girls that came out the back of a tractor trailer driving what looked like to be a 1979 10th anniversary edition Trans Am, in which they caught up to the dukes easily. (Submitted by Mike)

  • A 1963 Pontiac Catalina appeared in the 1973 movie "California Dreamin," and is featured on the artwork of that movie poster. (Submitted by Read M. Schuchardt)
  • The movie "Good Fellas" features a really nice 1968 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 400 cu.in. V8. It's featured at the beginning of the movie where the mob kills a guy in the trunk, then it shows up here and there throughout the movie.   • Burt Reynolds drove a Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit parts I and II. Each movie has a 1976 and 1979 Trans Am. (Submitted by Lapoeta and Nathaniel Cline)

  • In the opening scene of "Demon Night," the main character is being chased by the main demon in the movie, who just happens to be driving a 1977 Special Edition Trans Am, which they wrecked later in the scene. (Submitted by Mike)
  • In the movie "Break Down," one of the bad guys drove a red 1977 or 1978 Trans Am while chasing Kurt Russel. (Submitted by Mike)
  • In one scene of the movie "The Wraith" (a movie about a black car that someone who gets killed drives when he comes back to life), he is racing a beefed up 1977 or 1978 Trans Am, which is later destroyed as is every car he races. (Submitted by Mike)

  • Forest Whitaker as the very large football player in Fast Times at Ridgemont High drives a 1981 Trans Am. Would have to see the movie again for details, but Spicoli wrecks the car as he is stoned driving with Whitaker's

Name Origins

  • The name Trans Am came from the Trans Am racing series. Pontiac had to pay a $5 royalty fee per Trans Am sold for use of the name. (Submitted by TRicKy4707@aol.com)
